Learn how it works, what’s included, and how we help your staff meet compliance standards while improving patient outcomes.

  • This training is ideal for nurses, nursing assistants, speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, physician assistants, emergency medical personnel, and other healthcare professionals who care for patients with tracheostomies in skilled nursing facilities, long-term care, home health, rehab, or school settings.

  • Some of the topics covered in a 4-hour training session include:

    • Airway Anatomy and Physiology

    • Recognizing emergencies

    • Breath sounds

    • Identify the various parts and kinds of trachs and what they are used for

    • Routine tracheostomy care & dressing changes

    • Proper suctioning techniques

    • Emergency response to dislodgement or obstruction

    • Infection control and troubleshooting

    • Charting

    • supply ordering

  • Your facility is responsible for providing:

    • 1 box of gloves

    • 1 suction canister and canister tubing (2 pieces)

    • 1 suction kit and one sz 14 French suction catheter per student

    • 1 Yankauer

    • 1 trach care kit per student

  • Certificates of completion are provided. CEUs application pending

  • Respiratory Skills, Inc. collaborates with facilities to develop or strengthen evidence-based policies and procedures for tracheostomy management. We work with your clinical leadership to align protocols with current best practices and regulatory standards.

  • Flat Rate for up to 10 staff $1500.

    Smaller groups (1-5): $1,000

    Travel fee may apply for locations over 30 miles.

  • Yes! We can accommodate weekdays, weekends, nightshift, or off-shift scheduling based on your staff’s needs.
